Metal, Wood, Skin marks the 25th album release by musical artist Marcus L. Miller for the Universe Soul Records label.
The album features tracks composed, written, and performed by Marcus L. Miller at the Universe Soul Records music laboratory facility.
All tracks feature Miller on all audible percussion and sounds.
The tracks represent the 3 elements needed to create a drum. The hand pan is primarily featured on the first 3 tracks to highlight the metal family which also includes the chimes, bells, cymbals, jingles, and shakers. Tracks 4-6 pay homage to the wood based instruments such as the clavés, horizontal slit drum, cajon, tongues boxes, and wood blocks. The seventh track features Miller on a host of membrane-o-phone (drums with skin) instruments including the drum set, conga, djembe, djun-djuns, doumbek, surdo, cuica, and bongos. This album is dedicated to the late Emily Copada-Cotton.
